Hi, dear students in Rosario!

We are about to take off..., to open new windows to the world, to get known, to meet other people from many different spots on the planet...

This will be the online space which will connect us with new cultures and with new friends...., to see how different, or how similar!!! we all human beings can be...

To start off, go to THIS site, where you'll be able to browse different pages with the information you need to participate. So far, many teachers have joined the project, which will make the experience richer and richer ;-)

So click on all the links to get familiar with what you'll need to do; take a look at Flicker, where you'll have to upload the photos that you'll take (and see those already uploaded!), at the wiki, where you'll find more detailed information, and also click on "about", a page which will answer many of your questions.

I hope we all have an enjoyable, fruitful and enlightening experience. See you in class tomorrow!

TASKS FOR PRACTICE for the last week in July

Hi, all dear students,

As we've been missing too many classes, and since you now have enough time to devote to your English, you are ALL expected to finish unit 4 and 5 from your Exam Maximiser book (and unit 3 those who have not done it). This means that you'll be revising Modals, Conditionals, Intensifiers and Modifiers, and Comparatives, among other activities.

Please, also revise the use of "wish" (Unit 6). We are quite behind and need to be responsible,… Continue

Are we being paranoic with these measures taken...?

All dear students,

As we won't see each other for a while, it would be great to keep connected with the language and among ourselves!

So I am bringing forward a comment Diegui posted, which I would like you to post your opinion on: by closing schools and institutions at the moment owing to the spread of the "swine flu" we are being paranoic...

Do you agree?

Hi, my beautiful gang of students!

HERE you'll find a wealthy source of Listening practice with activities. Choose ONE, from the Difficult list and do the activities. Then let us know why you liked it, posting to this blog...

Look forward to seeing your choices!

Teacher: "Nick, what is the past participle of the verb to ring?"
Nick: "What do you think it is, Sir?"
Teacher: "I don't think, I KNOW!"
Nick: "I don't think I know either, Sir!"

Second Opinion

The doctor to the patient: 'You are very sick'
The patient to the doctor: 'Can I get a second opinion?'
The doctor again: 'Yes, you are very ugly too...'

Hi Rita! I made it. :-) Thanks for your invite.
I read with interest Laura's comment here. Our school system in Slovenia seems to be similar to yours. Full-time study is basically free of charge (students need to cover just minor administrative expenses). Adult students (part-timers) need to pay though. I think this is good. Education should be accessible to everyone.

This video shows the low conditionsin which many students from differents parts of the world have to study. This conditions are not only low because of the economic situation, they are low bacuase of the level of education they have.
Most students don´t pay attention in class and also, they spent their free time playing video games.
Some students can´t go to school because they don´t have money to pay the fees or buy books.
Sometimes, a person don´t study because he knows that he won´t have a job after going to the University.
At University, many teachers don´t know your name, don´t care if you work, usually, they don´t go to do their job.
Here, in Argentina, are many free Universities so that helps a lot to a poor person who really wants to study, but many classes are very big so many teachers don´t know you. Moreover, most time they don´t have to go to the University because somo teachers decides not to go bacause they are angry with the goverment.
Everything show thate the education is getting worse than it used to be.
I hope it will help.!

I'm glad you're fine. I've been pretty good too, enjoying this "flu vacations" LOL. Thanks for answering my post, I'll try to finish all the homework I owe you. By the way, are we starting this Tuesday or the next?
A hug and CU soon,

P.S.: Do I need to create a new account on Edmodo or is there like a "general account" for everyone?

Dear Rita,

Thank YOU for letting me be part of this community. You have a wonderful bunch of students here, which is no wonder with such an inspiring teacher and mentor :-)

I've been peeping around a bit and see that they are quite active. Very interesting blog posts and discussions. I imagine it must be a pleasure to work with them f2f!

Pity Ning isn't a bit friendlier though. It's a shame it won't let you add those ESL video exercises to the video section.

So you are travelling to England next January? Great! I'm sure it'll be an unforgettable experience.

See you around, dear Rita and students.
